Understanding Edition Numbers and Artist Proofs
An edition number identifies one impression within a stated edition. Artist proofs sit outside the numbered edition and should be declared. A lower number does not automatically make an impression better.
What to confirm
Request artwork-specific information rather than relying on general terminology. Studio 54 Fine Art can confirm available details about the work, documentation, framing, production, delivery and applicable terms before acquisition.
A careful next step
Keep written records of the description, invoice, condition information and delivery agreement. No artwork should be presented as guaranteeing appreciation, resale value or a financial return.
