A contemplative visual language shaped by landscape, structure, light and the quiet poetry of everyday perception.
Discover the practice ↘The practice
Across more than four decades, Baltramaitis has developed a practice rooted in sustained attention—returning to familiar places until their hidden rhythms begin to emerge.
Forests, mist, clouds, cities and marks left upon material surfaces become meditations on time and presence. His photographs move between representation and abstraction: branches resemble calligraphy, mist dissolves the visible world and landscape becomes a field of rhythm.
Light and shadow are central. Shadow holds what remains uncertain or unformed; light draws texture into recognition. The images preserve that fragile passage and invite the viewer to slow down, look closely and encounter the act of seeing itself.

The artist
Born in Vilnius in 1956 and now living and working in Germany, Sigitas Baltramaitis has spent more than four decades developing a contemplative practice across fine-art photography and painting.

Photography and painting · 1993–present
More than 3,000 photographs made through repeated walks near the artist’s home: woodland transformed into rhythm, abstraction and living perception.
Atmosphere dissolves the boundary between the visible and imagined, opening quiet spaces for memory and contemplation.
Material surfaces and accumulated marks reveal the presence of time through subtle evidence of use, change and disappearance.
Landscape is approached as an active condition of experience rather than a fixed view or documentary subject.
