Dust gives the elephant’s solid form an atmospheric counterpoint. The photograph holds mass and movement in the same frame: a monumental animal becomes part of a shifting field of light and suspended particles. Baheux’s black-and-white palette concentrates attention on the meeting of skin, air and earth, giving an everyday behaviour a sculptural presence.
